AAC Myth busters June 3, 2024 at 2:45 pm

Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools help develop speech and language skills in people of all ages. AAC can supplement or compensate for other forms of communication. There are so many people who have not received an AAC system or device due to the many myths that are believed by some in the field. These myths can delay or deny a person’s human right to communicate. The ability to communicate will dramatically change the trajectory of a person’s life. Let’s BUST these myths.

Key Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to identify 6 myths about why someone might not be a good candidate as an AAC user and why these are wrong.
Participants will be able to describe aided language stimulation and how to use it.
Participants will be able to describe who is a good candidate for AAC.
